The Men's 2012 Varsity and Junior Varsity schedules are now available. The complete schedule for the 2012 Hendersonville Classic is also posted. Please note that the men's parent meeting is this Sunday, February 12 at 3:00 pm in the lecture room.

2012 Girl's Soccer Meeting

For those interested in trying out for the 2012 HHS Girl's soccer team there will be an informational meeting this Sunday, February 12 @ 4:30 in the lecture room at the school. Tryout dates, camp dates, etc. will be discussed. This meeting is for potential players and their parents.

It's been a relatively quiet winter (aside from the 32nd Annual Commando Indoor Soccer Tournament), but there are three new items to bring to your attention! To the Commando Family

With the New Year upon us, I wanted to take the opportunity to give the Commando Family a huge thank you. So many of you have done so much for me during this past year. Many of you gave towards the gift which helped my family enjoy a wonderful summer in Orange Beach. After the great summer, we all returned to the school year only to be faced with many challenges created by this years budget cuts. In facing those challenges many of you as individuals, families, alumni and current athletes came out of the woodwork to create a Facebook page, write emails and stand up for me and my family.

I want to thank you for being such a wonderful community. I hope you all realize how much you all mean to me, and how much you are appreciated.

32ND ANNUAL COMMANDO INDOOR SOCCER TOURNAMENT

The HHS Christmas Project

As most of you know, the Hendersonville High School soccer program is committed to lending a helping hand to a family in need during the Christmas season. This will be the 10th year for our Christmas project and we would like to make it the best one so far!

Lady Commandos Enter Sectionals

The Hendersonville Lady Commandos, District 9-AAA and Region 5-AAA Champions, play Ravenwood High School in the opening Sectional game on Saturday at 7:00 pm. The first 50 students with an HHS Student ID will be admitted FREE to the game. Please come out to support our Lady Commandos!

Region 5-AAA Tournament Begins

The Lady Commandos open the Region 5-AAA Tournament on Tuesday, October 25th, 7:00 pm at the "Field of Dreams" vs. Rossview. Please come out to show your support.

Pink Out!

Please wear pink to the Germantown game (home) on Saturday, October 1. Proceeds from this game will be donated to cancer research. Please note that game time has been moved to 6:00 pm.

Vote on Proposed School Budgets

Parents, Alumni and Friends,

Monday night at 7:00 pm, the full County Commission will meet and vote on the proposed budgets:

the need based budget
the second is the cuts (with trainers, bookkeepers and 3 others put back in)

The "need based budget" is a status-quo budget (over $5 million from what the County Commission has allotted). The second eliminates several programs including night school and over 50 positions.

Please contact your commissioner and ask for the "need based budget." Your attendance will be a great demonstration for our schools.

More on 2011-12 School Budget Cuts

Parents, Alumni and Friends,

Thank you for your support concerning the 2011-2012 Budget Cuts. The School Board will have a special called meeting:

Wednesday, September 14 at 5:00 pm at the Board of Education in Gallatin, TN

Please continue to contact the School Board members. The County Commission Education Committee and Budget Committee have allocated funds to cover Paul (and the 3 other trainers) and the bookkeepers. The County Commission cannot control where the Board of Education will use the funds.

Express your desire for the funds to be used for the trainers and bookkeepers. Attendance at the meeting for the above would be helpful. Please encourage others to contact Board members and attend the meeting.

Sumner County Schools Budget - Step 3

The next steps in the Sumner County budget process are coming up today (Monday, Sept. 12) and next Monday (Sept. 19):

Please be present to support our concerns with the budget. Meetings will be held at the Sumner County government building at 355 N. Belvedere Drive in Gallatin. Sumner County Schools Budget - Next Step

Thank you for the effort with the Sumner County Budget! The next step is to communicate to the Sumner County Board of Education.

Calling All Commandos!

The School Board of Education presented and voted on a budget last night that eliminates several positions and services. The situation that directly affects our soccer program is the elimination of our Athletic Trainer Paul Good.

2012 Boys Soccer Tryouts - July 28

The Hendersonville Commandos boys 2012 soccer team tryouts are scheduled for July 28th, 6:00 - 8:00 pm on the practice fields in front of Ellis Middle School. Anyone trying out must have a current physical.

Congratulations to Paul Good!

Paul Good has been named the TIAAA (Tennessee Interscholastic Athletic Administration Association) Distinguished Service Award Winner! This award is presented annually to individuals outside the field of athletic administration, as well as professional school personnel, in recognition of their length of service, special accomplishments and contributions to interscholastic athletics at the local and state levels. Nominations are submitted by members of the Tennessee Interscholastic Athletic Administrator's Association and are screened and selected by the Awards Committee appointed by the President.

Hendersonville Classic Tournament Begins Friday

Come see the Hendersonville Commandos matched up against some of the best men's soccer teams in the state at the Hendersonville Classic. Hendersonville High Soccer Scholarship Funds

It is the aim and the ultimate goal of our program to provide a vehicle for our players to continue their higher education, to ensure that deserving student/players get the assistance necessary to aid in the process. It is with this in mind that a scholarship program was established many years ago. This program has grown to four annual gifts, each awarded to a player that best exemplifies the meaning of what a Hendersonville High School Soccer player is within the context of the spirit of each scholarship.

NCAA-Bound Seniors

This year's graduates (2010) that are planning to play at the collegiate level for an NCAA institution must declare their final amateur status with the NCAA Clearinghouse beginning April 1, 2009. Follow the steps below. If you are not already registered with the Clearinghouse (you do NOT have an ID and password with the NCAA), log on to www.ncaaclearinghouse.net, and create an account.

Alumnus Passes Away

The Hendersonville High School Soccer Community would like to extend condolences to the family of HHS Soccer Alum Daniel Kopko who tragically lost his life in a skydiving crash. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, parents, friends and relatives.
