The School Board of Education presented and voted on a budget last night that eliminates several positions and services. The situation that directly affects our soccer program is the elimination of our Athletic Trainer Paul Good.
Words cannot describe Paul's value and presence he has with our soccer program and the athletic department at Hendersonville High School. Paul has been at our school and community for almost 14 years. Immediately Paul built a rapport with the coaches, athletes and administration at school.
I know that I am "preaching to the choir..." What can we do? The advice I have been given - contact the county commissioners (email or phone call). http://sumnertags.com/Commission/Members
Suggestions:
- Thank them for taking the call
- Or thank them for responding to your email
- Be polite
- Give a short explanation of what you would like them to provide
- Additional funding for the school budget (you need to understand if the commissioners approve more funds the school board may use as they wish)
- Explain that you will contact School Board members if more funds are approved and ask they use for the rehiring of the trainers eliminated (4 total) * understand the School Board presented the budget and the commission do not have to add funds
- At the conclusion - Thank you again for your time
